 Our mission is to reduce malnutrition through crop biofortification.

Research in the Rhodes lab is focused on understanding the genetics of nutrient variation, particularly provitamin A carotenoids, in order to help breeders develop nutrient-dense staple crops.

We use tools from crop genetics, human nutrition, and analytical chemistry to strategize and carry out crop biofortification, focusing primarily on sorghum.
